The US/NATO and Russia are amassing troops and engaged in a war of words over Ukraine. Each side is trading barbs and threats, while the world’s people, especially those in Ukraine watch in fear of an impending conflict.
To stop this explosive situation from becoming a war between nuclear powers, a coalition of groups has called for an emergency anti-war protest this Friday.
“We are gathering to protest both US/NATO belligerence as well as Russian aggression,” said Traven Leyshon, co-chair of Central Vermont Democratic Socialists of America. “We are demanding that they both stand down, respect Ukraine’s right to self-determination, and enable a peaceful settlement of the conflict.”
The newly formed coalition is also planning teach-ins to educate the public about the roots and history of the conflict over Ukraine.
